Rationale and Assignment
This unit aims to provide you with an opportunity to take control of your own learning by independently initiating, researching, implementing and evaluating a project proposal and realisation within a chosen professional context. The degree of self-direction that will be required to display is in recognition of the educational model prevalent within higher education.  You will define the choice of the proposed subject, subsequent research, and all relevant activity.

What you need to do:   
Task 1: Pitch your idea: Presentation
Assessment Criteria  

1.2 Use analysis and evaluation to clarify and develop a personal self directed art and design project proposal
2.1 Use research to support the development of a personal self directed art and design project
2.2 Use analytical and evaluative skills to develop creative solutions to realise a personal self directed art and design project

Present your ideas through the delivery of a PowerPoint presentation. This should document what your intentions are and how you intend to full-fill your project.

Points to include in your presentation:

How will you use a range of critical and contextual perspectives and approaches to develop your work?

Influences. Which photographers’ work and why? Which Artists’ work and why? 

How will you analyse and evaluate research evidence to support your own ideas and development?

How will you integrate your practical, theoretical and technical understanding to help you with project ( how are you going to produce your work and what techniques and processes are you going to use?)

How will you maintain and use records of critical analysis and evaluation to support your decision-making
progress ( work book /diary log /blog of how you have progressed on this journey )

How will you analyse and evaluate your working progress, which will lead to the realisation of your project proposal? ( How have you produced your work?)

How will you use appropriate forms and techniques to present  your work?

Experiment and produce a range of different presentation techniques that well help you present your work in a more professional manner.

Task 2 : Workbook or Blog

Assessment Criteria  
1.1 Use critical and contextual perspectives to initiate a personal self directed art and design project proposal
1.2 Use analysis and evaluation to clarify and develop a personal self directed art and design project proposal
2.1 Use research to support the development of a personal self directed art and design project
2.2 Use analytical and evaluative skills to develop creative solutions to realise a personal self directed art and design project
4.1 Demonstrate the ability to plan, organise and produce a personal self directed art and design project within an agreed time frame
6.1 Maintain evaluative and reflective records of the development of a personal self directed art and design project
6.2 Use evaluative and reflective skills to make decisions for a personal self directed art and design project

Present a workbook or Blog  that shows how you have sourced a wide range of primary and secondary research and how you have planned,evaluated,reflected and experimented with a wide range of techniques and processes

Task 3: Present Personal Project 
Assessment Criteria  
3.1 Solve practical and technical problems within a personal self directed art and design project
3.2 Solve theoretical problems within a personal self directed art and design project
5.1 Demonstrate the application of practical methods and skills in the realisation of a personal self directed art and design project
7.1 Explore strategies to present a personal self directed art and design project
7.2 Present a personal self directed art and design project to a specified audience

Produce a wide range of well-crafted and visually exciting photographic images that link to your personal project. Your images should be of a high standard and demonstrate good technical skills . 

Deadline  19th May 2015

Submission Requirements:

Work folder or Blog containing the following: 
Contextual references. Primary and secondary research. Ideas development. Planning; showing how you have organised your shoots and managed your time.

Your own personal, on-going reflection. A  critical review of your own performance and finished work.

A range of final finished prints presented in an appropriate and professional manner.

NOTE: YOU FINAL GRADE  WILL REFLECT THE LOWEST MARK YOU RECEIVE FOR ANY OF THE OUTCOMES. EG THERE ARE A TOAL OF 12 OUTCOMES IF YOU ARE GRADED A DISTINCTION FOR 11 AND A PASS FOR 1 YOUR OVERALL MARK WILL BE A PASS.
